THE GARDENS

For those who are interested in plants, there are many varieties of Rhododendron and Magnolia. For those who want to be quiet, there are several secret places. The lushly planted Garden Room is for congregating at meal times (the table seats 14) or working quietly during the day when it is not warm enough to do so outside.  The Dining Room with its hand painted flower mural seats 10. The living room and kitchen open onto the south facing terrace where there is a large circular rustic dining table, ideal for breakfast or lunch in the sun or dinner by candlelight. There are 3 wood burning stoves in 3 armchair rich sitting rooms. The kitchen is a cook’s dream.

The kitchen garden is to be found by leaving the terrace (scissors and trug in hand) and heading up the fern and rhododendron-lined path.  After c.500 yds you will find a beech hedge,  behind which is the sheep grazed meadow and kitchen garden.
