West Cork is all about nature uncut and loving living life. Mount Corrin House captures all of that, bottles it and shares it with everyone who comes to stay. For 250 years it was a hard-working farmhouse but has now been reborn into a new life as an elegant comfy country home for families and friends. Everyone’s family and everyone’s friends. The place has always seemed to make people happy. Many say that they feel emotionally hugged when they walk through the door. As far as the owner is concerned, that is ‘job done’ but it doesn’t stop there.
Food is a key part of West Cork, that and mountains, sea, big skies, grand gardens and landscapes and normal life feeling very, very far away. Set in all of that, the Mount Corrin kitchen garden is managed to produce, organically, abundant quantities of the vegetables and flowers of the season. The wider garden has streams, paths, ponds, many secret places.

“Our stay at Mt. Corrin could not have been more perfect. Pulling into the drive we were blown away by the stunning property, which you cannot gain a full picture of from it’s online photos. The house itself is magnificent, with beautiful yet comfortable furnishings throughout the many lovely rooms. Spending time there feels like being invited to the country house of a relative, not at all like a rental property. The beds are so comfy, the kitchen is a professional kitchen that can accommodate many gathered together cooking, the guest cottage is charming, so many beautiful areas to enjoy: terraces, dining rooms, conservatory, summer house…the list is endless. The heated pool and hot tub are the crowning glory! We came with friends and family for a birthday celebration and it was ten days that none of us will ever forget.”
Beyond the house
If you can drag yourself away from the luxury of your Mt Corrin base, there’s much to enjoy in the region. Great pubs and restaurants, of course, but add in whale and dolphin watching, wildlife spotting, sea kayaking, sailing, golf, sea and freshwater angling, fantastic walking trails and more.
